The new incentives will ensure that upcoming projects are sustainable.
Tourism Minister Hon. Dominic Fedee said recently, that Saint Lucia’s newest multi-million dollar hotel, the Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa, has come at the opportune time, as government is in the process of repositioning the tourism sector to create a favorable environment where tourism can thrive.
Government’s new tourism thrust which includes the transitioning of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board to the Tourism Authority, will strengthen public-private sector collaboration in marketing and tourism development.
“[The Royalton comes] at a time when we are taking a careful look at our incentive legislation,” he said. “The next level of incentives will not just intensify investment, but it will ensure that we have very viable and sustainable tourism projects in Saint Lucia.”
Government is also anticipating increased airlift out of Canada as a result of the Royalton-Sunwing Travel Group connection.
Meanwhile, the management of the Royalton has indicated its intention to contribute substantially to advancing Saint Lucia’s agriculture-tourism linkage.
