THE WINNING VIDEO WAS PRODUCED BY TWO GRADE 9 STUDENTS.

The Saint Mary’s College has emerged as the winner of the US Embassy’s STEM video competition in Saint Lucia.

The competition allows secondary school students to produce a short video explaining why STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) are important to the community.

US Ambassador to the Eastern Caribbean and the OECS, Linda Taglialatela, congratulated the students on their level of creativity and talent.

“We received several excellent entries from the schools across Saint Lucia, however the video submission from Saint Mary’s College truly stood out. The creative video produced by two Grade 9 students demonstrated how advances in the STEM fields allowed for improved standards of living specifically in the Caribbean.”

Principal of the Saint Mary’s College, Rohan Seon, said he is extremely proud of the students’ awareness of the importance of STEM fields.

The winners were presented with prizes including telescopes, books and other Stem related items.
