President Ma Ying-jeou is making a farewell visit to the Caribbean.
Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, is to meet with President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Ma Ying-jeou, in Belmopan, Belize, this week.
President Ma Ying-jeou is making a farewell visit to the Caribbean, as he is due to leave in May to pave the way for the newly elected President to take office.
During his stay in Belize, President Ma will meet with the country's Prime Minister, Dean Barrow, as well as the heads of Government of three of Taiwan's diplomatic allies in the Caribbean: Prime Minister Anthony; Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris; and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves.
The Prime Minister will lead a delegation that includes Minister of Health, Wellness, Human Services and Gender Relations, Hon. Alvina Reynolds.
Dr. Anthony will leave the island today, March 15, and is scheduled to return to Saint Lucia over the weekend. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, will act as Prime Minister during the Prime Minister’s absence.
