The National Competitiveness and Productivity Council educates junior supervisors on how to become productive leaders.
The National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) last Wednesday hosted a one-day workshop for personnel within the Department of Finance, Economic Affairs and Social Security.
The workshop was designed to provide the necessary tools required for supervisors to be better able to guide their teams and to maximize the use of available resources.
The workshop titled “High Productivity Leadership” comprised of approximately 20 participants from various departments within the Department of Finance including the Inland Revenue Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the Saint Lucia Postal Service and the Accountant General’s Department. The trainees were given an in-depth overview on the main factors affecting productivity in the workplace and also focused on their roles as productive change agents in their respective units.
The session also covered critical areas that impact the productivity of a leader. The main topics explored included planning, time management, delegation, team building, employee development and employee motivation.
It is anticipated that a second session will explore topics that impact a leader’s productivity and performance.
The workshop was held on Feb. 10 at the Customs and Excise training room.
