The Gros Islet Polyclinic Social Committee recently utilized its ambulance service to deliver much-needed food supplies to a needy client and resident of the Gros Islet community.
Leon George and her family were the recipients of three hampers. Ms. George regularly attended clinics but was unable to continue due to illness.
Vice President of the Polyclinic Social Committee, Earline Jules, said the committee is proud to be in a position to give back to the community.
"It is our hope that these hampers will go a long way in meeting the needs of Ms. George and her family," Jules said."I would like to applaud the staff for their generous contributions towards this venture. The Social Committee strives to exceed staff expectations while being a catalyst for positive social change at the polyclinic and in the wider community."
George expressed gratitude for the donation.
"The polyclinic is a good place. The people who work there are very nice," she said.
The hampers contained food and household items, and were presented on Aug. 14.
The Social Committee plans to conduct more philanthropic activities in the near future.
In the meantime, George is visited regularly by community health aides to ensure she makes a full recovery.
